In 1973, Bill and Wanda Davis purchased Houston Halls Nursing Home which was a 50 bed facility at the time. They increased the number of beds to 73 and the name was changed to New Perry Nursing Home. In 1993, Alzheimer’s/Dementia Care began as a specialized service offering care for individuals with mid-stage and late-stage Alzheimer’s Disease and related Dementia. In 1998, New Perry Nursing Home changed its name to Summerhill Senior Community to reflect its coming expansion of services offered through a restoration/
expansion project into a full continuum of care. Today, Summerhill Senior Community offers 12 Independent Living Villas, 15 Personal Care Home Efficiency Apartments, and 160 skilled nursing facility beds including 32 Specialized Memory Care beds and 20 short-term rehab beds.
Our goal is to maximize the quality of each individual's life by valuing dignity, independence, and individual needs. We strive to promote an atmosphere of wellness and healing for each individual by providing a homelike, comfortable environment.
The traditional values of Summerhill are founded on more than 40 years of experience in the healthcare field. Summerhill's community encompasses everyone from active seniors on the go, to those needing assistance with activities of daily living, to residents needing short-term rehabilitation after a surgery or hospitalization, to residents that require 24-hour skilled nursing care, or residents in need of specialized memory care. Summerhill's unique continuum of care allows residents to maintain dignity while maximizing independence and receiving appropriate care, as needed. Having the availability of different levels of care on the same campus assures our residents that a change in healthcare needs will not necessarily mean a change in address.
Our Mission is to provide the highest quality of life for our residents by offering excellent healthcare services to meet the needs and desires of each individual.
In keeping with our Mission Statement, we pledge to:
Summerhill Senior Community received the 2015 AHCA Bronze National Quality Award for commitment to quality care.
